John L. Taylor ( JT )

John L. Taylor, age 94, of Ocala Florida, passed away on March 24, 2025. He was the son of John and Ella Taylor, born on September 9, 1930 in Tannersville, Virginia. He is preceded by his wife of 58 years, Gladys Taylor who he married on April 5, 1951.

John’s careers included coal mining in West Virginia, assisting in the expansion of Turf Valley Golf Course in Ellicott City, Maryland and being the foreman of a land maintenance crew in Columbia, Maryland.

John lived for the Lord. Hunting, fishing and gardening were his favorite pastimes. He retired to Florida in 2003 with his wife. He loved golf and the many friends he met along the way.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughter, Barbara (Phil); sons, Michael (Betty), John “Tommy” (Jane), Timothy (Vickie), Jeffrey (Tracy); sister, Peggy Thompson: 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home (4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043) on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Viewing from 10:00am – 12:00pm, Celebration of Life service at 12:00pm, graveside at 1:15pm and reception at 2:00pm.
