Joseph Francis Anton age 83, passed away Saturday evening, July 26, 2025, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Joe was born on December 11, 1941, in Baltimore City, MD and was preceded in death by his father Andrew Anton and mother Marie Sauter.
Joe’s memory lives on with his beloved wife of over 50 years Nancy Anton; his brother Andrew Anton; three cherished daughters Jennifer LaHart, Kathleen Batt, and Amanda Batzold; eight grandchildren Jacob, Avery and Lily LaHart, Grayson, Wyatt and McKinley Batt, and Tucker and Lucy Batzold; and sons-in-law Andrew LaHart and Timothy Batt.
Joe, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Loyola College in 1963 and served in the United States Coast Guard and Reserves. After the Coast Guard, he started a career as a dedicated Salesman for Central Scientific and Lane Publishing/Time Warner until retirement.
Joe was a kindhearted and dedicated family man with an amazing sense of humor and unwavering faith in God. He was notoriously frugal with himself so he could be graciously generous with others.
Joe enjoyed spending time with family, and friends who were treated like family. He especially enjoyed hosting parties and holiday meals, planning family vacations, and attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. He also appreciated reunions with St. Bernardine's classmates, as well as with the various groups of friends he made from childhood through adulthood. Joe never missed an opportunity to catch up with family and friends and enjoy a cold one.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, August 7th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, August 8th at 11am at Our Lady of the Angels at Charlestown in Catonsville, MD. Interment will immediately follow at New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
