Joshua Colgate Hines

Joshua Colgate Hines passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021, at the age of 32. He was at his home in Annapolis, MD.

He was the son of James Francis Hines and Cynthia Lipscomb Hines. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Kevin Alban. He is survived by his father, stepmother Karen Blair Hines, sister Jamie Gustin (Jon Gustin), brother Jeremy Hines, nephews Hayden Hines, Jasper Gustin, Jonah Gustin, Jesse Gustin, nieces Halle Hines and Jax Hines, grandparents Charlotte A. Lipscomb, James C. Lipscomb, Catherine (Kitty) Hines and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Josh graduated from West Nottingham Academy in Colora, MD in 2006, and received the James E. Spiro Award for his academic, athletic and social contributions to the academy.

Josh loved Jesus, his family and sports of any kind. He was the Baltimore Ravens’ single largest fan and wore purple nearly every day of his life. In his youth, Josh played basketball, football and was a star left-handed pitcher. 

Josh was diagnosed with a debilitating disease in his teens that left him unable to walk. Despite enormous physical challenges, Josh persevered in his career, becoming a beloved and respected Member Services Representative for Kaiser Permanente and an inspiration to countless friends.

A private memorial service will be held at Harry H. Witzke’s Funeral Home in Ellicott City on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 4:00PM with Reverend Gregory Cobbs officiating. Friends are invited to a visitation at the same location from 12:00PM to 2:00PM. Due to COVID-19 restrictions space is limited. Interested attendees should contact the family directly.
The service will be streamed live, follow the link below and a public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
