Justin Michael Schmidt, lovingly known as “Smitty,” passed away on May 14, 2026, in Ellicott City, Maryland, at the age of 46.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Justin grew up in Arbutus, where he built lifelong friendships and became known for his sense of humor, kind spirit, and genuine heart. Anyone who knew Justin knew he could make people laugh effortlessly and that he cared deeply for the people he loved.

Justin’s greatest joy in life was his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Leslie-Anne Schmidt, and his beloved children, Julien, Jace, and Josselyn-Justine, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his loving parents, John and Joyce Schmidt, and his sisters, Rachel and Lauren.

Justin had one of the purest hearts and a way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved. He cherished time with family and friends and created countless memories filled with laughter, loyalty, and love. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though his time here was far too short, Justin’s love, humor, and spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
