Katherine Chase Obituary

In Loving Memory of Katherine Frances Chase (April 17, 2008 - March 20, 2024)

Katherine Frances Chase, affectionately known as “Katie,” of Columbia, MD, passed away suddenly at the tender age of 15, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. She was a vibrant sophomore at Wilde Lake High School, where she touched the lives of many with her bright spirit and contagious enthusiasm.

Katie found joy in various activities, embracing life with passion and creativity. As a member of the High School Marching Band and active participant in GSA, she found camaraderie and fulfillment in her extracurricular activities. Katie's adventurous spirit led her to the outdoors, where she thrived in her Girl Scout adventures, relishing camping trips and kayaking excursions.

A true culinary enthusiast, Katie's love for baking bread and cookies reflected her aspirations to become a chef. Her family and friends fondly remember the delicious meals she prepared with love and the warmth of her kitchen gatherings. Katie's creativity extended beyond the kitchen, indulging in her love for thrifting she found joy in modifying clothes to suit her unique fashion sense.

Katie's fascination with Japanese culture and anime was evident to all who knew her. Her trip to Japan with her mother and sister illuminated her adventurous spirit as she fearlessly sampled Japanese Takoyaki, beef tongue, and many other delicacies and embraced new experiences.

Katie was a beloved daughter to Sue Ann Chase and a devoted sister to Nicole Chase. She now joins her father, John Chase, in eternal peace. Katie is survived by her maternal grandparents Raymond and Sharon Laramie of Hammond, IN; maternal aunts and uncle: Bill Laramie of Hammond, IN, Teresa Pope (Jesse) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Joanne Ruder (Branden) of Munster, IN, and Debbye Todd (Chris) of Knoxville, TN, who shared in her joys and supported her endeavors. Additionally, Katie is survived by her fraternal aunts Margaret Jennings (Larry) of Annapolis, MD, and Joyce Mortland of Warren, PA, along with numerous cousins who were cherished members of her extended family.

Katie's loyal companion, her pet cat Auggie, departed alongside her. May they find comfort together in heaven.

Private services will be held for family. The community is invited to celebrate Katie's life on Friday, April 5th from 4-6 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church within the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Rd, Columbia, MD 21044.
