Obituary

Kathleen Dunne (nee McKay) passed away on November 18, 2022, in Ellicott City, MD. She was born to James and Kathleen Agnes McKay in the Bronx, New York City on September 26th, 1940. Her parents were Irish immigrants and Kathleen enjoyed a childhood with many relatives and her three siblings, Terry, Mary, and Richard. Catholic school educated at St. Jerome’s Parish school and The Academy of Mount St. Ursula High School, she matriculated to Hunter College where she studied history. Kathleen excelled at school and received many scholarships throughout her school years. After graduating from Hunter College, she went to work for the Social Security Administration and met the love of her life, Joe Dunne. They married in 1966 and relocated to the Baltimore area. Two children, Joe and Maura, came along and they settled into Valley Mede in Ellicott City. There she enjoyed a truly wonderful life with incredible neighbors and friends. Kathleen’s true love was her family, Joe and her children, but also her siblings, nieces and nephews. Her favorite role in life was that of Gram to her four grandchildren. She loved to play with them and would attend any event they were a part of. She delighted in the accomplishments of all her family and loved being together. After some time off to focus on her family, Kathleen returned to work at the Social Security Administration and enjoyed a successful career as a fiscal analyst. She loved to travel and was a voracious reader. Kathleen was also a die-hard sports fan. She loved her Ravens!

Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joe, sister, Mary Potter, brother Terence McKay, and her parents. She is survived by her son Joe (Christie), daughter Maura (Ned) and four grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Bridget and Kate, her brother Richard (Judy) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a cherished mom, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Kathleen was beloved by all that knew her. Her kind, gentle soul is now at rest.
