Keith W. Bauer

Keith Wayne Bauer, born April 4, 1941, in Barberton, Ohio, passed away on June 29, 2026, in Germantown, Maryland, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, and thoughtful devotion to the people and places he loved.

Keith was the beloved son of William Wesley Bauer, Sr. and Geraldine Gail (Manderbach) Bauer, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by subsequent wives of William Sr., Inez Bauer and Sarah Bauer, brothers William “Bill” Bauer, Jr. and Marvin Bauer, as well as grandson Logan Filigenzi. He is survived by his children, Patricia Bauer-Filigenzi (Adam), Wendy Hockey, Sargent Bauer, Heidi Bauer (Roderick Williams), Cindy Fajardo (Jason), Maryland Wright (Michael), and their mother, Carol Mooney Bauer. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Justin Filigenzi, Anna Bauer, Wesley Williams, Martin Williams, Carly Fajardo, Luanna Fajardo, Zoe Wright, and Lucas Wright, as well as many other cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember him with love and affection.

Keith grew up in Barberton, Ohio and attended Barberton High School, where he was proud to be one of “The Magics”. The pride he carried in his hometown and his high school remained with him throughout his life. He carried with him a deep appreciation for community, loyalty, and the lasting bonds formed in youth. His connection to Barberton was a meaningful part of who he was, and it stayed close to his heart no matter where life took him.

Following his education, Keith entered the military. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959-1964 as a pilot mechanic and achieved the rank of corporal. Keith then built a career as a computer programmer with the National Geographic Society. He later continued his professional life as a private consultant, where his analytical mind and steady approach served him well. He was known for being thoughtful and capable, and he brought a calm, dependable presence to his work. His career reflected both his intelligence and his willingness to apply his skills in service to others.

Keith had many interests including being a fanatic of the Barberton High School football team. He followed them with enthusiasm and pride. He also enjoyed nightly walks, a good thunderstorm, hostess cupcakes, and simple pleasures that brought him happiness throughout his life. He also treasured time spent with friends playing chess and cards, where his sharp mind and good humor were always welcome. These interests mirrored the balance in his life between reflection, companionship, and enjoyment of everyday moments.

Though his passing brings sorrow, his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength. Keith’s life was a testament to quiet dignity, enduring affection, and the importance of being kind. He will be remembered always with love and gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
