LeRoy Rodney "Rod" Compton, 92, of Ellicott City, passed away November 1st, 2024 after a long battle with prostate and bladder cancer.
Rod was born on May 30th, 1932 to LeRoy and Margaret Compton in Millville, NJ. After graduating from Middle Township High School in 1950, he went on to study history at his beloved Franklin & Marshall.
After graduation, he enlisted in the Army. While in the Army he married his best friend and love of his life, Carolyn. They spent their first year of marriage roughing it in Honolulu, HI as he continued serving his country in the Army. He served for 4 years and was honorably discharged.
After leaving the Army, he went to law school at University of Maryland where he received his law degree. He would later be approved to present cases at the United States Supreme Court.
After graduating law school, Rod went to work for Amoco Oil where he was a real estate attorney for 32 years.
After retiring from Amoco, he spent even more time pursuing his passion of golf. He and Carolyn spent time visiting family and with dear friends, Andy and Squeak Tysinger as well as Mike and Kitty Chrismer.
Rod is survived by his wife of 69 years, Carolyn, his son Mark along with his wife Noi and their children Amanda and Daniel. Also by his son Bryan and his wife Denise and their children Samantha and Sydney. Rod was predeceased by Nicholas, Bryan and Denise's son.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Gilchrist Hospice or Franklin & Marshall or St Judes.
