Lester Thomas Young

Lester Thomas Young, known affectionately as “Tommy” by his siblings, the loving husband of Beverly Margaret (Endres) Young, died peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of October 23, 2023. 

Tom was one of ten children; the youngest son of Emery Lee Young and Clara Elizabeth (Hackler) Young, born in 1936. 

He began serving his country by joining the Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1962. During this period, he visited Maryland where he met the love of his life. In 1958 he married Beverly, and grew a family with her over the next 65 years. Directly out of the Navy, Tom began employment with Baltimore Gas and Electric Company as a Sub Station Operator. During his career he held various positions, retiring as a Load Dispatcher Supervisor. 

Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly, sister Peggy Amos, sister Susie Underbrink, daughter Sharon Johnson and husband Steve, daughter Patricia Arnold and husband James, son William Young and wife Krista, and his daughter-in-law Bonnie Young. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, Lee Young, Amy Ponting, Stephen Johnson, Joseph Young, Jessy Young, Annmarie Knight, William Young Jr., Alyssa Arnold, Kyle Arnold, and 14 great grandchildren. 

Tom was preceded in death by his father, mother, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and his son Jerome Young.
