Lillian Makofski Obituary

Lillian Michaeline Makofski passed away peacefully in Columbia, MD, on November 4, 2023, due to kidney failure. Born in Glen Lyon, PA, on August 10, 1932, Lillian lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication for her family and friends.

Lillian is survived by her son David Makofski, daughter Kathleen Moxley, son-in-law Stephen Moxley, and sister to Wilma Zonn. She was predeceased by her children, Richard, Patricia, and Stephen, as well as her beloved grandson, Travis. Despite the losses she experienced, Lillian’s spirit never waned, and she remained a pillar of strength for her family.

Educated at The Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Lillian was dedicated to her studies through hard work and devotion to helping others in need. It was this devotion and the faith that was instilled by the Catholic nuns of nursing school that helped her through the challenges of life, including the loss of her loved ones.

Lillian had a love for classical music that extended to being a member of the St. Johns choir. However, her greatest joy came from the dogs in her life and the world. She loved the happiness, companionship, and comfort they brought to her and she was always there to give the same in return. She was always there with a treat or toy for her own and others' dogs.

In the face of adversity, her life demonstrated the importance of kindness, compassion and quiet faith. She will be remembered not only for her strength, but for her warmth, love, and kindness as well.

Lillian Michaeline Makofski's life was a testament to the power of being a kind, gentle soul that always cared more for her family and pets than for herself. As we say our goodbyes, we celebrate a life well-lived, remembering Lillian for her kindness, gentle nature, and dedication to her loved ones. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she left behind.
