Lisa Brown Obituary

Lisa P. Brown, a beacon of faith and joy, passed away at the age of 64 on May 14, 2024, in Howard County, Maryland. Lisa, born on September 14, 1959, in Baltimore, MD, was a cherished daughter, sister, sister-in law, aunt, and friend who lived a life marked by dedication to her family, her work, and her passions.

Lisa was the beloved daughter of Ouita J. Jackson (Miersch) and the late Thaddeus W. Potocki, and stepdaughter to the late George F. Jackson and the late Dolores Potocki. She grew up in a bustling household with her brothers Alan T. Potocki, Daniel P. Potocki, and Barry E. Jackson; sister Janine R. Santmyer (Potocki); and stepsisters Shirley Sparagana, Sandra Jackson, and Sherry Jackson Martin. Lisa was a cherished sister-in-law to James Santmyer, Debbie Jackson and the late Pauline Potocki. Lisa's role as a cherished aunt extended to her nieces and nephews—Matthew Martin, Audra Sparagana, Jason Potocki, Nicholas Potocki, Stephen Santmyer, Phillip Santmyer, Austin Potocki, Ashley Shaffer (Jackson), Abigail Jackson, Christiana Craner (Jackson), Benjamin Jackson, and Daniel Jackson—as well as her great-nieces and nephews Wyatt Perry, Matthew Martin Jr., Tyler Potocki, Ansley Potocki, Caroline Potocki,  Fiona Santmyer, Madison Santmyer, Camden Shaffer, Liam Santmyer, Aurora Shaffer and Bailey Potocki.

Lisa's academic journey culminated in a BA Degree in Mathematics from Western Maryland College now (McDaniel College) in Westminster, MD, a subject she not only excelled in but also adored. Her love for numbers and problem-solving led her to a distinguished 35-year career as a Computer Systems Analyst for the Social Security Administration, where her contributions were invaluable and her work ethic, impeccable.

Beyond her professional life, Lisa was a woman of many interests. A lover of playing sports, she could often be found in the stands at Oriole baseball games, cheering on her favorite team with the same enthusiasm she brought to every area of her life. She had a talent for music, playing the flute with a grace that could only be matched by her skill with numbers. Lisa's love for games, particularly Wheel of Fortune, showcased her quick wit and competitive spirit.

Lisa's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She was a faith-filled individual who found great comfort and community within her Emory Church family. Her funny and light-hearted nature made her a joy to be around, and she had a unique ability to lift the spirits of those she encountered.

Above all, Lisa treasured time spent with her family. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a casual visit, or a shared meal, she immersed herself in the love and laughter that being with her loved ones brought. Her presence was a gift that they will forever hold dear.

Lisa's legacy is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering faith that guided her through her life's journey. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.

We bid farewell to Lisa P. Brown, a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the power of a kind heart and an indomitable spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will be cherished and celebrated by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
