Lois Marilyn Nickell Morrill was 92 years old when she passed away on December 24, 2025, a few days after suffering a stroke. Lois was born on August 2, 1933, in Washington, D.C., to Eva Buck Nickell and Cecil Everett “Nick” Nickell. She grew up in Independence, Missouri, and Dearborn, Michigan.
Lois graduated from Richmond Polytechnic Institute of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. An extremely talented artist from a young age, she was sketching hands, faces, people, and buildings with ease as early as first grade. Her first job after college was as a commercial artist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C.
Lois later left the workforce to raise a family in the Columbia, Maryland area. After raising three children, she and a close friend founded Stencil Touches, a custom stenciling business. Their work was featured in the Howard County Designer Show Houses and in homes throughout the Baltimore–Washington area.
Lois is survived by her husband of 64 years, Justin “Ed” Morrill; her children Meredith Davis (Todd); Ashleigh Morrill (Ed Sites); and Justin Morrill (Tracy); and by grand children Rory, Ian and Jack.
Lois was a founding member of the local Westside Church of Christ. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, all things Paris, France, World War II history, reading, and staying up to date on current events. She especially enjoyed countryside drives with her husband. Lois will be greatly missed as a wife and mother.
