Lois Moyer passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022 at age 95. Lois is survived by her two children, Leonard J. Moyer, and his wife Susan, and Patricia M. Horvath, and 4 grandchildren, a great grandson, and an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lois was born and raised in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, the only daughter of Elmer Uriah Delp and Lavada Rockey Delp. She was the youngest of 4, with 3 brothers, Chester, Foster, and Chalmer. She graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1943 after only 11 years of schooling at age 16, then went to work in a factory producing goods for World War II. She married the love of her life, Clarence “Pete” Moyer on June 6, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia, while he was on leave from the US Navy before leaving for the Pacific. They were married for 54 wonderful years until his passing in 2000.
After her children were old enough, she re-entered the work force as a bookkeeper for Blue Ridge Fruit Exchange and Five Forks Farms while living in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. After moving to Florida, she worked as a bookkeeper for a major nursing home outside of Orlando, Florida, until her retirement in 1998. After moving to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania after Pete’s passing, she volunteered at an Adams County nursing home and was Treasurer of their Auxiliary.
Lois had an extensive collection of Bells and Angels, spent hours on puzzles, and loved to keep up with her children and grandchildren on Facebook. She never forgot to send a birthday or anniversary card to her large extended family members and was adored by all of them. She was a beloved friend, neighbor, and family member by all that she touched.
Lois will be buried at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania beside her husband, Pete.
