Lorraine Lynn Reed

Lorraine Lynn Reed, age 69 of Ellicott City, MD passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020.

She was born January 12, 1951 to Elmer Franklin French and Ada Lorraine French of Essex, MD.

Lorraine graduated from Kenwood High School in 1969. Immediately upon graduation she started working at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, MD. Lorraine worked her entire career at SSA and retired in 2002 with 31 years of service. She always enjoyed working with numbers and consequently had numerous positions in budgeting, ending her career as the Fiscal Operations Analyst for the Deputy Commissioner's Office .

Lorraine's faith was very important to her and she was a dedicated member of Emory United Methodist Church in Ellicott City for 33 years. During that time she served as the Financial Secretary and the Church Secretary. She also had a brief stint as the Wedding Coordinator for the church

. Lorraine enjoyed traveling, bowling, reading, doing word puzzles, going to Orioles games, baking cakes and doing just about anything with her grandkids.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 33 years Robert Reed, son Steven Johnson, Jr. and his wife Lisa, grandchildren Justin and Emily Johnson, brother Howard French and his wife Irene, and sister Karen Goles and her husband Milton. She was preceded in death by her sister Arlene Smith.

Due to the coronavirus, the viewing and funeral service will be private. There will be a memorial service at a later date to be held at Emory United Methodist Church in Ellicott City. Memorial donations made be made to Emory United Methodist Church, 3799 Church Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043.
