Lucille R. Clarke (maiden name Sullivan) passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, at Arden Courts in Pikesville, Maryland, at the age of 92. Born September 18, 1931, in West Friendship, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roberta I. Hudson McGrath and Clarence R. Sullivan.
Lucille graduated from Lisbon High School in 1949. She was well liked by her classmates and often described as pleasant, friendly and quiet. In the 1949 yearbook, her chosen quote was “We must have reason for speech, but we need none for silence." Shortly after graduation, Lucille moved to Baltimore City and worked as a secretary for the Little Joe Wiesenfeld Saddlery & Equestrian Supply Company. She met her future husband on a blind date in late 1953. They were married on May 8, 1954 and their marriage lasted an amazing 66 years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas C. Clarke; daughter, Jane Ellen Clarke; brother-in-law, Edmund C. Renk; and son-in-law, Jon C. Crosby, III.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol R. Crosby; daughter, Nancy E. Wittle and husband Mark Wittle; granddaughter, Amanda L. Wendal and husband George E. Wendal III; grandson, 1LT Ryan Wittle, U.S. Army; grandson, Sean Wittle; great grandchildren Daphne Wendal, George E. Wendal, IV and Iris Wendal; and sister-in-law, Betty Clarke Renk.
Her family and friends will never forget her warm smile and loving personality.
