Lynn Smith Obituary

Lynn Ethel (nee Mancuso) Smith, age 78, of Columbia, MD, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024 in Fulton, MD, after a hard fought battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia.

Lynn was born on June 10, 1946 in Washington DC to Frank and Nancy Mancuso.  After graduating from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, she pursued a career working in a variety of positions supporting the Navy Space Office at the Naval Research Laboratory.  Her years of service in her profession extended from the early 1970s until she retired in the early 2000s.

Throughout her lifetime, Lynn had many interests and hobbies, including bowling, dancing with friends, spiritual work and traveling.  From a young age and throughout her life, she would spend time in Ocean City during the summer and created many memories with her children, grandchildren, and friends. The beach was her ultimate happy place.

Lynn is survived by her two daughters and her son, Lynette Ann Sagarino, Lorie Nichols-Kannee, and Brent (Nakia Weable) Smith, as well as her grandchildren, Kyle, Corey, Kendyll, Caylee, Aiden, Johnny, Callysta, and Addison, with one more on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Mancuso. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people affected by FTD (including Primary Progressive Aphasia) and drive research to a cure.

Lynn will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
