Mae Elaine Esaias (née Edwards), a devoted nurse, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on June 24th in Columbia, MD. Born February 7, 1946, in Hamlin, WV, to Don and Velva Edwards, Elaine lived a life dedicated to caring for others. Elaine was predeceased earlier this month by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 56 years, Wayne Esaias.
Elaine was a proud graduate of Parkville High School and the Sinai Hospital School of Nursing. She spent over 40 years as a Registered Nurse, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients and their families.
Elaine had many hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She had a famously sharp mind and a wicked sense of humor. She was a skilled weaver, gardener, and DIY maven who had a lifelong fondness for puzzles and games. She will be remembered as a phenomenal cook who loved to explore different cuisines and recreate them at home.
Elaine is survived by her two children, Colin Esaias of Liberty Hill, TX, and Caroline English of Brookeville, MD; her eight grandchildren: Jacob, Maddox, Samuel, Ryleigh, Sydney, Drew, Meredith, and Arthur; and her sister, Donetta Delisle.
A celebration of Elaine's life will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Elaine's memory.
