MARGARET ANN NOSTRAME (née Franco), 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 4, 2021 in Columbia, MD after a courageous battle with cancer. Known affectionately as “Peggy” she was born on September 5, 1940 in Bronx, NY, to her wonderful and loving parents, Edmundo and Annamae (McGinley) Franco. She was raised in Jersey City, NJ, spent many years in Bayonne, NJ and ultimately retired in Columbia, MD where she was surrounded by her loving, devoted and ever growing family and beloved friends.
Educated at The Academy of St. Aloysius in Jersey City and Fairleigh Dickinson University, she was a dedicated and enthusiastic elementary school educator for 35 years, first as a 2nd grade teacher and later, after receiving her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, as a reading specialist in the Jersey City Public School system. All those fortunate enough to have known her will miss her big smile, warm heart, huge laugh and uplifting and encouraging words. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her adoring family including her children, Catherine Nostrame (Sidney Schupak) of Bethesda, MD, Maggie Martinek (Gary Martinek) of Ellicott City, MD, and Jennifer Nostrame (Felipe Gonzalez) of Ellicott City, MD; her grandchildren, Jessica Martinek (Guney Cakmakli), Krystina Martinek (fiancé, Bobby Antis), Alexander Schupak, Jordan Schupak, Melina Gonzalez, and Leila Gonzalez; and her great-grandchildren, Kyler Cakmakli, Brayden Cakmakli, and Landon Cakmakli; her dear sister, Rosemary Muscolino (Alfred Muscolino), sister-in-law Gail Franco and her many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends while she joins her loving brother, Edmund 'Ned' Franco and her parents in heaven.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Peggy’s life at a viewing to be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 3p.m. to 6p.m.at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME located at 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. A funeral will follow to be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church located at 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia, MD 21044.
