Marjorie Lynne McAllister, age 86, of Ellicott City, MD, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. While the disease gradually faded her memories, it never touched the boundless love she held for her family.
Born on August 4, 1939, in Camden, NJ, Marjorie was the beloved daughter of the late Mildred & Theodore Mohr, Sr. Marjorie was also preceded in death by her husband, James William McAllister III, and by her older brother, Ted.
Marjorie attended Trenton State University, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education. She began her career in the classroom as an English teacher at Catonsville High School, and later served as a long-term substitute in Special Education for the Howard County Public School System. Marjorie eventually transitioned to medical administration, rounding out her working years as an Executive Assistant in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Columbia Medical Plan. Across all of her roles, her patience, reliability, and organizational skills were deeply valued.
Family was the center of Marjorie’s life. She is survived by her sister, Sandra (Rich); her son, Greg (David, Kyle); and her daughter, Terry (Darrick). She also leaves behind grandchildren: Zoe (Peter), Zian, Jake (Katie), Anthony, Kevin and Tristan; and great-grandchildren: Xylina, Nicholas, J.J. and Raelynn. Marjorie was happiest when her family was around her, always finding quiet ways to show how much she cared. To many, she was lovingly known as “Binga,” a name that reflected the special place she held in the hearts of all who knew her.
In her leisure time, Marjorie enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She loved BINGO, lottery scratch-offs, and cruise travel, especially when there was a casino involved. Christmas was her special holiday, as gift-gifting was her love language; she took immense joy in finding the perfect surprises for those she held dear. These interests brought her enjoyment and added a sense of fun and adventure to her life. She embraced these moments with enthusiasm and a bright spirit, always finding ways to smile and enjoy the company of others.
While Marjorie’s absence leaves an immeasurable void, the memory of her loving heart, her kind presence, and her enduring selflessness will remain a source of comfort to all who were blessed to share in her life.
In remembrance of Marjorie, the family will hold a private graveside ceremony at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her memory to either: Bridging Life Hospice at Sinai Hospital or The Alzheimer’s Association
