Mark E. McKevitt

 Mark E. McKevitt, passed away on September 4, 2025, in Towson, MD, after a brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Washington, D.C on September 24, 1951. He is predeceased by loving parents, Thomas L and Dorothy D McKevitt and beloved brothers Tom and Brian McKevitt.

He attended St. Bernadette’s Grade School and Gonzaga High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and a strong moral compass. He graduated at the University of Maryland and later to East Tennessee State University, where he completed masters degree studies in Environmental Science.

He worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, GA, Baltimore, MD and lastly Department of Defense, Assistant Secretary of the Army in Washington, DC.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, married for 45 years, as well as their son Patrick, and his wife Diana, and daughter Katelyn, married to Peter DiMartino. They were Mark's pride and joy. He delighted in his role as a father, instilling in his children the values of hard work, compassion, and the importance of family. Mark's joy multiplied with the arrival of six grandchildren: Owen, Nolan, Victoria, Carter, James, and Madelyn. He cherished every moment spent with them, from reading stories and playing games to imparting wisdom and sharing in their milestones. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs, as a grandfather who was always there with a warm hug and an encouraging word and often a cookie or a lollipop.

He is also survived by his cherished sister, Shiela Hanson and brother-in-law, Pete, older brother, John McKevitt, and sister-in-law, Sallie McKevitt, widow of Brian .

He enjoyed deer hunting in Pennsylvania at the farm of dear friends, duck hunting on the eastern shore with his brother-in-law, and attending Nationals games with his lifelong buddy, Don.

Even as Parkinson’s Disease presented its challenges, he faced them with courage and a positive outlook that inspired all who knew him. His strength and dignity in the face of adversity were a testament to his character.

Mark's legacy is not only etched in the hearts of his loved ones and dear friends, but also in the countless lives he touched. He was a man who led by example, always helping whomever and however he could, showing that a life well-lived is one filled with purpose, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of others.

As we bid farewell to Mark, he will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the lives of those he loved and the good work he accomplished.
