Martha Elizabeth Ewing, wife of the late Curtis T. Ewing died peacefully on Friday morning, 26 November 2021, at Fairhaven in Sykesville, MD.
She was the daughter of Young Franklin Geeslin, now deceased, and Ellen Irene Geeslin, now deceased, both of Atlanta GA. She was predeceased by sibling James Franklin Geeslin. Elizabeth Ewing graduated from Girls High School, Atlanta GA, in 1943.
She married Curtis T. Ewing on 20 May 1943 and moved to Washington DC immediately after marriage. She was a lifelong resident of the Washington, DC area. She was an active church member including Rolling Hills Baptist Church, Clarksville, MD., being a choir member and serving in many other ways.
She had a lifelong interest in gardening and flower arranging, was a member for many years in the Branch and Twigg Garden Club, serving as President several times. She and her husband were active for a number of years in the National Capital Orchid Society. Leadership and volunteering were her passions. She was a person of many talents; musician, poet, artist, seamstress. Her poetry and paintings will be cherished by family and friends.
She is survived by son, R. Alan Ewing, daughter-in-law Sue M. Ewing, daughter M. Elaine Garrett, and son-in-law William E. Garrett; grandchildren Curtis E Garrett (Becky), Lon A. Garrett (Theresa), Y. Robert Ewing (Monica), Joshua Y. Garrett (Kerry), and Caleb M. Garrett; great grandchildren Samuel Garrett, Tori Garrett, Austin Garrett, Patrick Garrett, Mason Garrett, Lizzy Garrett, Cogan Garrett, and Sadie Garrett.
Family will receive friends at the HARRY H. WITZKE’S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 10 – 11 AM, where a service will begin at 11 AM. Interment following in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
