Mary Bonds Obituary
Mary Peterson Bonds, wife of the late Dr. Robert W. Bonds died Monday morning, August 3, 2020 at Wilson HealthCare Center in Gaithersburg, MD.
She was the daughter of Harley Alonzo Peterson and Lora Stallings Peterson of Smithfield NC, now deceased. She was predeceased by brother G. Lawrence Peterson and sister Edna Rose Koven. She is survived by daughters Belinda and Mary.
She graduated from Smithfield High School and Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Fayetteville, NC. She worked as a nurse in Daytona, Florida and Norfolk, Virginia where she met her future husband.
Mary and Bob raised their two daughters in Washington, DC and Bethesda MD, where she was a loving mother and devoted homemaker. After the death of her husband in 1980, Mary retired to Columbia, MD to be near her daughters. She enjoyed reading mysteries, eating out, music--especially classical and show tunes, and going to the theater and opera.
She will be buried next to her husband at Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield, VA.
