Mary Eleanor Goshell (nee Gibson) born September 30, 1925 to the late Roland and Helen Gibson passed away peacefully at Charlestown on January 23, 2022 with family at her side. Mary Eleanor was the oldest of 6 girls, she being 10 when tragedy struck and her father was killed on the grounds of Loyola College. With no insurance or social security, they relied on each other. The Jesuit Brothers helped educate the 6 girls all graduating from St. Joseph's Monastery and the Institute of Notre Dame High School. Mary Eleanor continued her education at Johns Hopkins University at night studying accounting while working at Amhreims Bakery as the bookkeeper. It is at the bakery, she met the love of her life Irvin. They were married for 65 years and their marriage was a true love story.
They had 5 children, John, Jean, Margaret, Mary, and Mark; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Irvin, and 2 grandchildren Christian and Ronnie.
Mary Eleanor was the matriarch of her family helping raise her 5 sisters and continued to be the mother hen to her whole extended family. She was loved and respected by all.
