Mary Cassidy Hines

Mary Cassidy Hines, mother to Jimmy, Jeff, John, Joe and Catherine, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning March 15, 2023. During her 93 years, she had everything she needed: faith in God and a strong, loving family. She grew up with her Mom and Dad, Elizabeth and Jerome, and two sisters, Betty and Jane. After meeting through mutual friends, she and James W. Hines fell in love, married, and began life together in Cumberland, Maryland. Although Jim and beloved grandson Josh preceded her in death, she is survived by many: her 5 loving children, daughters-in-law Karen, Amy, and MaryAnn, son-in-law Barry, 14 grandchildren, two grandsons-in laws, 6 great-grandchildren and members of the Sappe and Howard families. Her family and friends find comfort in small, quiet memories and also the bountiful ones that big family provides. We look forward to sharing in life ahead including the joyful arrival of two great-granddaughters this summer and pending nuptials the following spring. While Kitty will be dearly missed, the circle will be unbroken.

Family will receive friends at the Harry H. Witzke's Family Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 5 - 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection Chapel on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, beginning at 2pm. A private interment will take place at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
