Mary Ellen Hunt of Ellicott City. MD passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2026 after a long and arduous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Mary Ellen was born on May 20th, 1960 to the late Johannes and Barbara Ahrens in Cortland, New York. She resided in Spenserport, New York with her family until 1978 when she graduated from Spencerport High School. Following High School, she attended Alfred State College in Alfred, New York where she earned an Associate Degree in Executive Secretarial, graduating in 1980.
Following graduation, Mary Ellen moved to Richmond, VA in 1984 to begin her life with her husband, Al, eventually marrying in 1987. Her first job in VA was as the secretary for the Chancelor of the Community College system of Virgina. Mary Ellen and Al lived together in Virginia with Marry Ellens son, Sean, and welcomed their daughter Ashley together in 1988.
Despite Mary Ellen’s love of Virginia Beach, she and Al moved to Maryland in 1999 to join Al at Armada Hoffler Construction and began working as a Project Manager Assistant, where she remained until her retirement in 2019. After retirement, Al and Mary Ellen were fortunate enough to allow her to stay home with the family, dogs, and the pool.
Mary Ellen’s love of animals persisted throughout her life, especially for her Jack Russel Terriers and Horses. She loved all sun and good weather activities including, sun bathing, swimming, and especially long motorcycles rides with her husband, Al. For her 50th Birthday, Al surprised her with a trip to Key West, Florida, where she fell in love with the sand and the waves which became an annual event that she looked forward to all year.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Al, her son Sean and daughter in-law Laura Arliss, daughter Ashley and son in-law Steve Elder. Her Grandchildren George Arliss, Riley Hunt, Jackson Hunt-Webb, Farrah Elder and Harper Elder. She is also survived by her Sister Sue and brother in-law Dave Beach and brother Jim and sister in-law Judy Ahrens.

A celebration of Life will be held at La Jetee, Canopy Baltimore Harbor Point Hotel 1215 Wills Street, Baltimore, MD 21231 Date: May 30th, 2026 Hours: 2:00pm-6:00pm
