Mary Patricia Lubbehusen, known affectionately as Pat to her friends and family, passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 31, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on March 17, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland to Gordon and Florence Dreisch, Pat was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and faith-filled life left an indelible mark on her community and family in Columbia, Maryland.
Pat’s life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to the well-being of children. Alongside her beloved husband, Benjamin F.C. Lubbehusen Jr., who predeceased her, she ran a home daycare that nurtured and cared for over 100 children across more than two decades. Her role as a Childcare Giver was not just a job but a calling, one that she embraced with boundless love and patience. The impact of her work extended far beyond the walls of the daycare, as she helped shape the lives of many with her love and kindness.
Pat's legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Julie Anne Novak, Kate Lamey and wife Lisa Lamey and Ben Lubbehusen and daughter-in-law Toni Lubbehusen, who each embody their mother's nurturing spirit. Her eight grandchildren (Heather, Jordan, Taryn, Jake, Jacy, Luke, Logan and Griffen and ten great-grandchildren (Mitch, Conor, Braeden, Kelsi, Finn, Grayson, Harley, Riley, Reilly and Leighton) were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
