Michael Hugh Truscott

Michael Hugh Truscott, of Columbia MD, passed away on 7/3/21 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was the son of Doreen Goddard Truscott and Gordon Alfred Truscott. He is survived by two children, Alison Truscott Wilson (married to David Wilson) and Keith Anthony Truscott (married to Rhonda Truscott), one sister, Joanne Truscott Murdoch (married to Hugh Murdoch), and two grandchildren, Shannon Brooks Truscott and Kendal Grace Wilson.

Michael was born in Argentina and lived his childhood in Uruguay before moving to the States for college. He graduated from Rhodes college (Southwestern) in Memphis TN. He then went on to University of Memphis for his Master’s degree and LSU for his PhD in Economics. 

After graduation he taught Economics at the University of Tampa for 40 years where he became Dana Professor of Economics. He was respected and well loved by students and colleagues alike.

His family will have a small memorial with close family only. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a christian outreach in Brazil that is led by Michael’s nephew Phillip Murdoch:
