Patricia Ann Grim Bahr departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the age of 83.
Patricia grew up in Catonsville and upon graduation from Catonsville High School, attended nursing school at St. Agnes Hospital. While working there, she met the love of her life, Raymond Donald Bahr, who was a physician from Canton in Baltimore. After getting married, Pat and Ray were blessed to have four children: Cathy, Julie, Raymond Patrick, and Mary Carole, then seven grandchildren: Cady, Paisley, Colby, William, Graham, Teddy and Cate, and then three great-grandchildren: Ruby, Charlie and Joey.
Raising her children, caring for her extended family, and supporting her community were the focus of her time and gave Pat great joy. She took pride in creating homes in Ellicott City, Canton and Ocean City that were beautiful, warm and welcoming for her family. She loved her husband dearly and was a great support to his many projects. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether it was celebrating special occasions, field trips to one of her many favorite places, or just hanging out on her deck. She loved to read, travel with her husband and family, visit art venues, museums, and theaters, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and working on puzzles. Pat was an engaged member of the Lutheran Church growing up and the Catholic Church as an adult. She was an advocate of those less fortunate, fed the homeless regularly at her church, and contributed to many social causes. Pat had the ability to make deep personal connections with so many people in her life. Her warmth, humility, genuine interest and empathy with others were her greatest gifts and made her an easy conversation partner and friend to so many. She was most appreciative of her husband’s caretaking and support in her later years. She will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one of Patricia’s favorite social action programs, The Resource Exchange, which provides furniture and household items for newly-housed, formerly homeless individuals. Checks should be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, with “Resource Exchange” in the memo, and sent to 120 N. Front St., Baltimore, MD 21202.
