Patrick Bailey Obituary

Patrick Gerald Bailey passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Columbia, Maryland, at the age of 94. Born on February 7, 1931, in Mobridge, South Dakota, the youngest son of the late Stephen Joseph Bailey and Mary Cecilia Burns. Patrick's life was characterized by his loving nature, generosity, and gentle spirit.

A proud graduate of Mobridge High School's class of 1949, Patrick's thirst for knowledge and adventure took him far from his South Dakota roots. Patrick honorably served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany, where he honed the discipline and meticulousness that would later define his career. After his military service, he enrolled the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico City, where he embraced new cultures and expanded his worldview.

Patrick embarked on a career as an auditor for the US Government which led to travels and postings in South and Central America. He finally settled in his home in Columbia, MD where he and his late wife, Maria Aspillaga, raised their two sons.

Upon retiring he enjoyed traveling with Maria to many different and exciting locations all over the world. They always shared their adventures by sending postcards home to their grandchildren.

A devoted father, Patrick's legacy is carried on by his sons, Steven Benjamin Bailey (Cynthia Curtis) and Patrick Luis Bailey (Marta Terricabris). His wisdom, warmth, and guidance shaped their lives and the lives of his adoring grandchildren, Sara, Savanna, Jason, Monica, Jon, Sandra, and Bryant. Each of them carries a piece of Patrick's spirit.

Patrick's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. His gentle presence and generous spirit were a comfort to those who knew him. He will be remembered as a pillar of strength, a reservoir of kindness, and a source of unwavering support.
