Raymond Crandall Cole Jr.

Raymond Crandall Cole Jr. passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020. He was 90 years old.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna A. Cole.  He is survived by his stepchildren, Jacob W. Parr, Jr, Christine J. Guagliano (Ronnie), and Donald A. Parr (Melanie).  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sara P. Gill (Eddie), Elizabeth P. Duncan (Will), Katie Parr, and Jack Parr, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Thomas Gill, Eleanor Gill, and McTavish Duncan. 

Ray served his country during the Korean War as a member of the Air Force, where he earned four medals for his service.  He later worked for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory for 33 years until his retirement, and was recognized for his contributions to the space programs. 

He is remembered fondly by family and friends for his ability to work with his hands.  In his retirement, he spent time on hobbies including golf, gardening, and woodworking.  Ray would build furniture and toys, and could fix just about anything -- sometimes better than new, other times just a little jury-rigged but working again.  

He loved having his grandchildren on his lap and spoiling his grand dogs with treats.  Christmas was a favorite time of year as he enjoyed decorating the house; he had already started decorating for this Christmas. 

Ray lived a good life and he will be missed. Rest in Peace Pop-Pop.
