Richard Feeney, husband of the late Elaine Feeney, passed away in his home of over 40 years on May 26, 2025. He was 81 years old.
Richard was the son of Thomas Feeney and Mary Fenimore Feeney and brother of the late Robert Feeney. Richard was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he later met Elaine LeGrow. She soon became the love of his life, and they were married in 1964. Just two years later, Richard was called to serve his country in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Upon returning from Vietnam, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Maryland and went on to a career in finance, ultimately attaining the role of Senior Vice President at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Richard was highly respected in his professional community and often called on to speak or present to large groups and share his experience. His professional contributions had direct positive impact on many nations around the world, especially in Latin America and Africa.
Richard is survived by his son, David Feeney and grandchildren, Brenna Siperko and Sebastian Feeney; his niece, Pamela Huffman and nephew, Matthew Feeney; and numerous friends who consider Richard to be family. Nothing meant more to Richard than his family, for whom he made significant sacrifices to ensure their well-being – sacrifices for which his family has been and will always be immensely grateful.
A celebration of life will be held on July 26th at 2:00 at Richard's home.
