On the afternoon of Saturday, May 14, 2022, Richard Joseph Sansbury, 83, died peacefully holding his wife and daughter’s hands at his home in Ellicott City, MD. He was born on December 11, 1938 in Washington, D.C. to Richard E. and Agnes Sansbury (née Cordes), both of whom preceded Richard in death.
Richard graduated from the University of Maryland in 1962. Following graduation, he served as an officer with the United States Air Force and married Maria Manarin, his wife of 59 years. They eventually settled in Ellicott City, MD where they lovingly raised two children. He worked as a Systems Analyst for the federal Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) and upon retirement became a Project Manager for several companies doing business with HCFA.
Richard is survived by his wife, Maria Sansbury (née Manarin); his daughters, Lisa Larcher (Jeff) and Andrea Holz (Keith); his five grandchildren, Megan Larcher, Bridget Larcher, Kurt Holz, Kathryn Holz, and Andrew Holz; and his two sisters, Janet Croghan and Patricia Sweeney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass celebrating Richard’s life will be held at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029, on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Internment following at 1:45 p.m. at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. All of those who loved Richard and his family are invited to attend.
