Robert "Rob" Henry Sims, Jr. passed away on November 19th at the age of 62 after a brief illness. Rob was born on December 22, 1958, in Morristown, New Jersey, and moved to Maryland 28 years ago. Rob was married to the love of his life, Margee, for 42 years. They have one son Chris, and one son Matt whom they lost 17 years ago in a car accident. The boys were the light of Rob's life, and his pride and joy.
Rob worked for Verizon for many years, beginning when it was still Bell Atlantic. He retired in 2011, and then worked as a Systems Admin for Johns Hopkins and Towson University.
In addition to his wife and son, Rob leaves his sisters and their husbands Marilyn and Dennis German, Joanne, and Roy Pomerantz, and Donna and Tom Rodack. He will also be dearly missed by Margee’s family, Eileen Custer (and her husband Mark Brandow), Arthur Custer (and his wife Katherine), MaryEllen Custer (and her fiancé Maurice), Ann Hartig (and her husband Bryan). He leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Ryta Sims.
Rob was known in the neighborhood as “Mr. Fixit” and was always happy to help his friends out with repairs and projects in and around the house. He had the perfect tool or gadget for every job. His knowledge and willingness to help will be sorely missed in the neighborhood. He loved fast cars – especially Mustangs. Rob loved traveling and spending time with his family, including camping trips when the boys were young. They drove to 48 states and 7 Canadian provinces, making happy memories all along the way.
