Obituary

Mr. Robert (Bob) Svehla of Ellicott City passed away on January 19, 2021.  He was born June 4, 1944 in Baltimore City and later moved to Howard County with his parents, Marie and Lawrence Deel, and his younger sister Judy.  Bob is survived by his wife, Brenda; his three daughters, Jodi, Krisha, and Kara; and his sister, Judy.  Bob had 11 grandchildren; Samantha, Madeline, Olivia, Justice, Payton, Jake, Emma, Leah, Guian, Andrew, and Audrey, and three great grandchildren; Logan, Jackson, and Ada.
Bob attended The Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, Maryland and graduated from Gallaudet College with a Bachelor's in Mathematics. There, he excelled in basketball and baseball and was even invited to try out with the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Senators, but he didn't have a fast enough fastball to make a team. He worked for NSA immediately after college and retired at age 62 after 30+ years of service.  After he retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering around the house, and perfecting the best yard in the neighborhood.
Bob will always be remembered for his kind heart, his generosity, and his silly sense of humor. We miss him already.
