Robert (“Bob”) Walter Garber, age 94, of Ellicott City, MD passed away on July 10, 2021. Bob was the beloved spouse of Beverly (“Bunny,” nee Frasca); loving father of his son the late Dr. Blair Garber, daughter Dana Gill and her husband Charles (“Buddy”), daughter Lisa Garber, and daughter Brenda Wickwire and her husband Todd; caring father-in-law of Dr. Daniel Frasca and his wife Kathy, and Laura Garber; devoted grandfather of Kendall Burris, Brent Garber, Dr. Drew Garber, Colleen Gill, Brian Gill, Dr. Jason Frasca, Corey Frasca, Allison Frasca, Matthew Thurston, David Thurston, Dr. Kelsey Pelfrey, and Brittany Thurston; and doting great grandfather of Hayes and Jack Burris, Lucy and Caroline Garber, Luke and Josie Garber, Willoh Gill, Samuel Frasca, and Owen Thurston. Bob is predeceased by his beloved first wife Doris (nee Darling).
Born in Garrison, Maryland, Bob lived most of his adult life in Ellicott City. After serving in the U.S. Army, Bob returned to Maryland where he enjoyed a long and successful career with The Baltimore Sun, working his way up from carrier to district manager. Although he couldn’t swim, Bob was an avid boater, crabber, and fisherman, and never missed the chance to show off the trophy blue marlin he caught on a memorable Caribbean fishing trip.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob’s life at a viewing (10am to 12pm) and funeral service (12pm) to be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME located at 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043.
