Ronald (Ron) R. Andachter, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, dedicated FBI agent, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, in his home in Ellicott City, MD, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 29, 1948, in Yankton, SD, Ron's journey was marked by service, commitment, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division and was awarded numerous accolades, including the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman Badge. After Vietnam, Ron graduated from Truman University in Kirksville, Missouri in 1972 and then joined the FBI. There, he worked in Foreign Counter Intelligence and Soviet Military Intelligence, contributing significantly to national security. In 1987, Ron's career brought him to Ellicott City, MD, where he continued his service in the Baltimore field office and then retiring in 2000.

Together, they shared memorable trips to Hawaii, South Dakota, Kansas or quick trips to the beach. On a typical day you could find Ron in his backyard, where he would relax with a glass of wine and a cigar and watching Kansas City football.
