Rose Marie Condon, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong servant of her church community, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, at Autumn Hill Assisted Living and Memory Care in Fulton, Maryland. She was 89 years old.
Born at home in a snowstorm in the midst of the Great Depression on February 7, 1936, in West Point, Virginia, Rose Marie was the daughter of Frank and Rose Seckora. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Francis, Joseph, Patricia, and David Seckora. She graduated from Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg in 1954 and went on to work as both an administrative assistant and a real estate agent. In her younger years, she was also an active member of several civic organizations in West Point.
In 1969, Rose Marie married John Condon, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Together, they raised three children and supported the church and their neighborhood community. In their spare time, they enjoyed golf, cheered for the Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terrapins, traveled regularly to Ocean City and Bedford Springs, Pennsylvania, and took trips to Ireland, Hawaii, Japan, Italy, and Spain.
Rose Marie’s faith was central to her life. Growing up in West Point, she and her family helped build the new church of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, where Rose Marie contributed to constructing and installing the stained-glass windows. After her marriage, she became a devoted parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church in Clarksville, Maryland. She served St. Louis in countless ways: as a school board member, a Eucharistic minister, an organist for Novena services, and an organizer of and volunteer for the annual Clarksville Picnic, to name a few. Her most prominent role--and the one she most cherished--was her 50 years of service arranging the flowers for Mass each and every weekend; a ministry she shared in later years with her dear friend Hilda Mathieu. She attended daily Mass, Novena, Eucharistic Adoration, and the Stations of the Cross with steadfast devotion.
A gifted cook and gardener, Rose Marie poured her energy into creating a welcoming home, tending her vegetable and flower gardens, and caring deeply for family, friends, and neighbors. In later years, she also served as the bookkeeper and administrator for her husband John’s life insurance agency. Her kindness, hospitality, generosity, and joyful spirit will be remembered by
all who knew her.
Rose Marie spent her final year at Autumn Hill, where she was cared for with love and compassion. The Condon family is profoundly grateful, especially to Harshana “Hanna” Giri and her dedicated staff.
She is survived by her children Sean Condon (and Liz Dols) of Bedford, NH; Colleen Condon (and Tony Kopera) of Parkville, MD; and Kyle Condon (and Jamie) of Granite, MD; as well as her beloved grandchildren Kelsey, Leo, Jake, Flannery, Lou, Rose, and Frank. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 29, at 9:00 a.m. in the Shrine of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, MD 21042.
