Ruth Jean Loftus, 89, of Woodstock, Maryland, passed away quietly of natural causes on November 8th, 2023. Jean was born in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, in 1934 to Ruth and Russell Clemens, and lived in the suburban Philadelphia area for much of her early life. In her teens and early twenties she lived with her mother and her stepfather, Joseph Feldi, in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. After marriage she and her family lived in Lansdale, and later moved to Waynesboro, Virginia, Lawrenceville, Virginia, and Altoona, Pennsylvania, finally settling down in Columbia, Maryland in 1971. Jean had an abiding faith in Jesus Christ and raised her children in the Baptist tradition. She was a longtime member of Columbia Baptist Fellowship in Columbia. She found joy in her family, cooking and baking, reading romance novels, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and playing the piano. In her younger years she was an avid ceramicist, often having the two kilns in her basement working overtime. Over the course of her life, she worked to raise her family, and held positions in the fields of pharmaceutical manufacturing and government contracting. She was also a writer, penning the children’s book “Ruby Rocksparkle”.
Jean was preceded in her passing by her beloved husband Joe, her mother Ruth Feldi, and her stepfather Joseph Feldi. She is survived by her brother Joseph A.
