Sandra Smith Obituary

Sandra Smith was born on January 12, 1947 to Doris Mae Rogal and Martin John Miller. As a child, Sandy began a journey of strength and grace in the face of whatever life brought to you that she would display the rest of her life. As a child, Sandy went to live at the Rosewood institution where she remained until the institution began to close in the 1970s. While at Rosewood, Sandy met and became enamored with David Bruce. After leaving Rosewood, Sandy moved into a home with Emerge, located in Charles Village in Baltimore and began a new life. Sandy and David Bruce were married in 1980, and Sandy worked at various jobs and churches in the Charles Village area. By this time Sandy had become the flaming red head with the warm outgoing personality that she would be her entire life. After Sandy's first marriage to David ended, with her strength and resilience, Sandy continued to demonstrate her grace and beauty with her warm smile and friendly outgoing manner. Always an optimist, Sandy had many friends and became connected with the church. While at the church, she met Eugene Smith, whom she married in 1994. Alas, Eugene became ill and passed away whereupon Sandy moved forward and developed many close friendships including Sheena, Charles, Rob and many others. In 2008, Sandy started one of her greatest battles when she developed cancer. Sandy fought and won that battle, but the cancer recurred in 2023 and Sandy left this world for a better place on August 31, 2024. She is survived by one brother, Jeff, and friends with everyone she ever met.
