Stephen Joseph Crosby, Age 88, of Maiden Choice Lane, and previously from Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away on June 4th, 2024, after a battle with Peripheral Artery Disease.
Steve was born on December 16th, 1935 to Douglas and Bernadine Crosby in Baltimore, Md. As a boy, Steve was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and was awarded the highest ranking of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1954, and he went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from Loyola University in Baltimore, Md.
Upon graduation, he accepted a position at the New Mexico School of the Mines, in Socorro, New Mexico, as an Associate Engineer. After working there for one year, he then joined the United States Navy as a Radar Intercept Officer and served for four years, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Upon returning from the Navy, Steve went on to work for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Howard County, where he had a lengthy career of 36 years before retiring in 1997.
During retirement, Steve enjoyed spending time at their condo in Ocean City, watching Ravens football games, and boating in the Assawoman Bay with family and friends.
He is remembered by his family and friends as being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Among his many talents, he was known as a tinkerer who could fix just about anything mechanical or electrical. He will also be missed for his sense of humor and for leading lively dinner conversations.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Dwyer Crosby, and their three children: Robert J. Crosby (spouse Ronald Whitesell), Ann Crosby Mohler (spouse William Mohler), and John S. Crosby (Amanda Hutchinson Crosby), his grandchildren: Catherine (Cassie), Caroline, Patrick and Riley, and his sister Mary Helen Crosby Gentile. He was pre-deceased by his sister Susan Crosby Fedak.
