Stephen Francis Forney

Stephen Francis Forney, 77 of Glenwood Maryland went to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ on November 24th 2024.

Stephen was born on November 23, 1947 in Baltimore Maryland to Audrey and Arthur Forney. After losing his father Arthur, Audrey remarried and Stephen gained a second father, Lawrence Lehrer. Stephen is survived by his wife Barbara and two children Stephen and Christopher. Stephen was also very lucky to have two sisters Kathy (Craig) Gemmill and Therese (the late David) Brown and a brother Larry Lehrer.

Stephen studied engineering and architecture in college before being drafted for service in 1967. After returning from Vietnam in 1970 he met Barbara and they quickly became inseparable. Stephen and Barbara were married in August of 1973, recently celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary. In 1978 they had their first child, Stephen. In 1983 they welcomed their second child, Christopher.

Stephen started as a framing contractor, eventually becoming a highly respected builder in Howard County working on numerous projects over the years. He was very involved in sports, both coaching his sons teams as well as playing over the years. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, he had a love for collecting lead toy soilders and trains. He would never miss an Orioles or Ravens game and loved spending time at the beach with family and friends. 

Despite facing many challenges, Stephen fought a tough battle until the very end. Along the way he won many small victories, which gave us more time to spend together. For that, we will be forever grateful. He leaves to be mourned by his spouse, children, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Stephen will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and willingness to put others before himself. He will be dearly missed
