Susan Ann (Bittner) Jones

January 27, 1947 ~ September 11, 2023 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Obituary

Susan Bittner Jones, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away
peacefully at the age of 76 on September 11, 2023, at Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia, Maryland. Known
for her kindness, love, and generosity, Sue's life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and
dedication to service.

Born on January 27, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, Sue spent her early life surrounded by a large,
closely-knit family where she developed a strong sense of community and a deep appreciation for the
simple joys of life.

Sue married the love of her life, David A. Jones, on June 25, 1966.  Together they raised four beautiful
children: Mark Jones, Julie Brethauer, Amy Lutsko, and Katie Smith. She was a beacon of love and
support for her children, instilling in them the values of kindness, respect, and hard work. Her devotion
to her family extended to her sons and daughter-in-law, whom she embraced with open arms and
unconditional love.

Sue was the proud grandmother to Andrew Honeycutt, Abbey Delaney, Allison Honeycutt, Megan
Brethauer, Emily Jones, Sam Jones, Sydney Smith, Connor Smith, and Addison Smith. Her grandchildren
remember her as a source of wisdom, love, and comfort. She was always there to lend an ear, share a
laugh, or offer a word of advice. Sue's family circle expanded further with the arrival of her great-
grandchildren: Gabby, Beans, Bella, Hadley, Jack, and Steven. Her joy in their presence was unwavering,
and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Sue was a woman of many interests, which included traveling, camping, crafting, reading, and hosting
family events. Her travels took her to numerous countries, enriching her life with diverse cultures and
experiences. She was an avid crafter and reader, and she found great joy in creating beautiful items for
her loved ones and immersing herself in the world of books. Hosting family events was a particular
passion for Sue. She was the heart and soul of every gathering, creating an atmosphere of warmth,
laughter, and love.

Sue's life was a rich tapestry of love, service, and dedication. Her kindness was her trademark, her
generosity was her gift, and her love was her legacy. She left an indelible mark on the hearts of those
she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.

In the end, it is not the years in Sue's life that mattered most but the life in her years. Her journey was
filled with love and laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family and her work. Susan Bittner
Jones was a remarkable woman, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations. She will be
deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
