Sylvia Antoinette (Palumbo) Barron

Sylvia Antoinette Barron (nee Palumbo) passed away on January 3, 2021 in Ellicott City, MD at the age of 95.

Sylvia is survived by her sons, Robert (Patricia) and Michael (Lisa), grandchildren, Alex (Kelly), Jacob (Kate), Rachel (Daniel), and Carly (Jon), and great-grandchildren Wilder, Rosalie, Andrew, Joseph, Ivy, and Matilda. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Barron Sr. and her sisters, Jean Hube and Gloria Britt.

Sylvia was born in Scranton, PA to Vincent and Grace Palumbo. She married Robert J. Barron Sr. in 1950 and worked for the State of Maryland for many years. She spent her retirement volunteering at the Ellicott City Senior Center and often donating her time to the Howard County Public Library and elementary schools to read books to children.

She loved her family fiercely and always claimed she got “the best of the bunch.” A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sylvia’s memory to Gilchrist Hospice Care.
