Thomas Mathias, Jr. Obituary

Thomas A. “Tommy” Mathias, Jr. 24, of Marriottsville, MD passed away on April 8, 2020.  Born on January 29, 1996 in Columbia, Maryland, he is the beloved son of Thomas A. Mathias, Sr. and Sandra L. Fisher Mathias.   In addition to his parents, Tommy was loved and cherished by many, Grandmother Ann Ray, Uncles and Aunts Matthew Mathias, Kathy Frazier, Gary Fisher (Jean), Scott Fisher (Lisa), James Ray (Jennifer), numerous cousins, many friends, and his treasured dogs, Buddy and Lucy.  He was preceded in death by Grandparents Betty F. and Matthew M. Mathias, William A. Fisher, and Uncle Ronald L. Frazier.

Tommy was raised in Marriottsville, Maryland and in his early years he enjoyed many activities including youth Soccer and Basketball and HCYP Baseball.  His middle and high school years were full of adventure and a new found passion for playing the guitar and skateboarding with his close friends.  He had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor.  Tommy attended Marriotts Ridge High School where he played Lacrosse and was a member of the Track and Field Team.  After high school he attended UMBC before venturing out into the working world.  He tried his hand at various pursuits looking for the one that would inspire him.  Life lead him to Minnesota where at the time of his passing he was working in the restaurant industry for a family owned business in St. Paul.

Tommy will be remembered for his love and commitment to family and friends.  He lived his life guided by kindness and authenticity.   The kindness he bestowed upon all he met leaves a legacy of inspiration for all of us.

I have a son, who is my heart.  A wonderful young man, daring and loving and strong and kind.
