Vincent Cuffari Obituary

Vincent R. “Vince” Cuffari passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, in Catonsville, MD. Born on May 7, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, Vince's life was marked by his loving nature, his generous spirit, and his unforgettable sense of humor.

Vince spent his early life in Long Island, NY making music with his rock band, The Escorts, and spending summers at Roosevelt Beach in Oyster Bay. He fondly regaled family with stories of memories with his treasured high school friends and attended many reunions to maintain those relationships.

Vince proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, an experience that took him overseas and instilled in him a sense of duty and resilience. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the States and embarked on a diverse career path that suited his gifts and talents as a gregarious person who could connect with anyone.

Vince made Baltimore his home and could often be found in the heart of Fell’s Point behind the bar at the well-known watering hole Turkey Joe’s. His quick wit and outgoing nature made him a legend among locals and friends alike. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to insurance sales where he provided peace of mind to countless families. Vince's keen sense for business and investment led him to real estate, but his most cherished venture was owning and operating The Avenue Ice Cream Shoppe in Hampden. Vince’s place on 36th St. not only served sweet treats but also became a gathering spot for the community, reflecting his generous and welcoming nature.

Vince was the loving husband of Susan Cuffari for 43 years and shared many adventures as fixtures in the local Baltimore scene. Together, they devoted their lives to raising their daughters, Katie Shinsato (Jason) and Ann Unland. Vince was a rock of constant support to his daughters throughout their life events. He loved coaching his daughter Katie and so many others in the Catonsville Rec Softball
League. Vince was immensely proud to be a grandfather and deeply cherished his grandchildren, Megan and Lance Unland. Vince shared a strong bond of love and support with his brother, Joseph Cuffari, and sister, Marianne Cuffari, along with his nieces and nephews, Kristina, Billy, Joey, and Kelly.

As we say farewell to Vince, we celebrate a vibrant, well-lived life of service to country, community, and family. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
