Virginia Boyd Obituary

Virginia Watson Boyd passed away on April 9, 2021 at the age of 96.  She was born to the late Thomas A. Watson and Selina Eugenia Patterson Watson in Plainview, Arkansas on
January 9, 1925. She grew up on a farm with 8 siblings amidst a lot of love and laughter.
She married her true love James Edward Boyd.  He was born in Savannah, GA but went to college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin after serving in WW II.  Her
friend who was married to a student there also, wanted her to come visit so she did, and her blind date soon became her husband.
After graduation they moved to Washington, DC where my Dad got a job and had 2 children.  Five years later they moved to College Park, MD. where she was active in
church and sang in the choir, at weddings and funerals, volunteering for various things and taught sewing to anyone who wanted to learn.  She was a master seamstress and
made all our clothes.  Later we moved to Ellicott City, MD where she opened a sewing store with knit fabrics and taught sewing.  She also got her real estate license, helped
stroke patients, was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, always baking for others that were in need and many other things helping others.
She and Dad lived at Charlestown Retirement Community for 19 years before they both passed 4 months apart.
She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Jestes and son in law Frank of Ellicott City, MD and Karen Monroe of Arizona; grandsons Brian Jestes , (Barb); Kurtis Jestes (Stacy); Steven Jestes; Michael Monroe and Eric Monroe; and great-grandchildren Abigail Jestes, Grace Jestes, Emily Monroe and Nathan Monroe.  Also survived by
her brother Charley Watson and wife Nancy of Sherwood, Arkansas;  sisters in law Elizabeth Watson and MaryAnn Watson and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Her humor, kindness and generosity and love of her Lord guided her all her days.
One of her last wishes was to tell everyone how much they were loved.
