Ginny Weigel passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. She was 80 years old. Ginny is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Carey Weigel; her three children, Jennifer Noyes (Rob), Julie Bradley (Mike), and Scott Weigel (Peg); eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, sister, and beloved grandson.
Born on August 28, 1945, to the late Robert and Francis Mitchell, Ginny earned her degree in education from Towson State University and embarked on a life and career defined by care, commitment, and connection. As an elementary school teacher at Worthington and Hollifield Station in Howard County, Maryland, she was cherished by generations of students, parents, and fellow educators. To be in Mrs. Weigel’s classroom was to be seen, encouraged, and believed in. Her love for children, and her gift for nurturing their growth, left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Ginny’s impact went far beyond the walls of a classroom. She was the heart of her family and the joyful center of every gathering—whether at Dunloggin neighborhood parties, Forest Hills Swim Club events, or around a kitchen table filled with cards and laughter. She cherished her grandchildren, adored traveling, and found peace in the presence of water views and beautifully tended flower gardens. Wherever she went, she brought warmth, generosity, and love.
Visitation will be held on Saturday December 20, from 11-1 p.m. and again from 3–5 p.m. at Harry H. Witzke’s Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ginny’s honor to Coastal Hospice in Berlin, Maryland https://www.coastalhospice.org/—an organization that offered comfort and dignity in her final days.
Ginny’s love endures in every life she touched.
