Wai Lun Wong, loving husband, devoted father and son, photography fanatic, and proud craftsman of all things fixable, passed away on December 2, 2025 at the age of 64. Born on September 28, 1961 in Hong Kong, Wai Lun immigrated to Jersey City, New Jersey as a young man before eventually settling in Ellicott City, Maryland.
A talented engineer with a sharp mind and nurturing personality, Wai Lun approached every challenge with quiet confidence and care. He was always one to choose to DIY any car or home repairs instead of paying someone else to. His attitude to persevere and patiently work through any situation inspired everyone in his life.
Wai Lun found happiness on the open road, exploring new places with family on road trips, and savoring the food adventures along the way. He especially enjoyed barbecuing and smoking meat, something that made the whole family excited every summer.
Above all, Wai Lun cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Meeling, and his children, Tracy and Kenton, who will forever carry his love, his humor, and his steady strength in their hearts. He was always a constant and reliable figure in their lives. While it will be an overwhelming change, the family is forever grateful for the everlasting times and wisdom he has left them with.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home, with a Time of Reflection beginning at 3:30, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043.
The family kindly asks that guests refrain from sending flowers; your attendance is more than enough.
Wai Lun will be remembered with deep affection - for his warmth, his mentorship, his generosity, his secret sassy side, and the quiet, meaningful way he shaped every life he touched.
