Warren Miller Obituary

Warren Newton Miller of Columbia, Maryland passed away at his home on April 20, 2019 after more than a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was born on October 8, 1943 to the late Warren Luther Miller and Edyth Ferne Miller in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Phoenixville Area High School in 1961. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 3, 1961 where he served for 4 years.

After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, he attended Old Dominion University and West Chester University majoring in Natural Science and Mathematics. After college, he began his career in the banking business as a programmer for Philadelphia National Bank.  He then took a position with Philco-Ford Corporation where he worked in Kenai, Alaska and was later transferred to Tokyo, Japan as a programmer. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland in the early 70’s where he took a position with Burroughs Corporation, then later for Augmentation, Inc., SAI and Vitro as a Senior Program Analyst. He retired from Swales Aerospace in 2015.  

He married the love of his life, Karen Lee Hoffman on May 13, 1972 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Karen and daughter, Kimberly Lynn Behrens, wife of Robert Behrens and their two sons, Tyler and Kyle of Ellicott City, Maryland and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Warren, also known as “Bink”, “Willie”, and “Moose” loved cars.  His love for any type of car models and memorabilia were evident in his meticulous collection that was displayed throughout his home garages and model room.  He was a member of the Capitol Miniature Auto Collectors Club for over 35 years and recently an editor of their monthly newsletter. Warren enjoyed playing cards, working on cars, going to all types of car races, attending car shows and collecting any type of car and train memorabilia.  He loved spending time with his grandsons where he shared his love of his hobbies and attended their sporting events.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Laurel, Maryland for over 25 years where he served as a trustee.  He was a current member of Grace Community Church in Fulton, Maryland.

 

Interment is private.
