William Reider Obituary

William "Bill" Lloyd Reider, 87, of Ellicott City, MD passed away on September 21, 2022.

Bill was born in Valley View, PA on March 17, 1935. He was the son of the departed Lillian Irene Reider (née Stutzman) and Russell Conwell Reider. Bill graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Education. He furthered his education by receiving a Master of Administration/Supervision from Loyola University and a Master of Technology from Chapman College in Orange, CA. He was one of 25 participants to be selected for the Experienced Teacher Fellowship program. Bill was an avid soccer player at Towson University, where he served as President of the Men’s Athletic Association. He married Margarette “Marge” Reider (née Barnette) on December 1, 1962.

Bill’s first job was selling Nabisco cookies. He then went to work on the Baltimore Harbor freight ship, spent 34 years as a Teacher and Media Specialist and sold electronic equipment for CTL Communications prior to retiring.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Margarette Reider; his daughter, Tracey Roberts (Michael); his son, Randall Reider;  his grandchildren, Katherine Deshesky, Taylor, Skylar, Emily, Natalie, Brady, and Jack Reider; his great-grandchildren, Conner and Noah Deshesky; his nephew, Will Decker; and his three siblings, James Reider (Pat), Jack Reider (Lydia), and Lillian Decker (Mark).

Bill is preceded in death by his son, Tyrus “Ty” Christopher Reider, and brother, Russell Reider.

A celebration of life for Bill will be held with family and friends at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home at 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043 on October 1, 2022 from 3 - 5pm. Reception to follow.
